The Association of Disabled Professional Service Employees ("APDSE") enthusiastically endorses the current President of the 10th District Los Angeles City Council, Mr. Herb Wesson, for Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, 2nd District Representative. Mr. Wesson has long championed the cause of working persons and proposed legislation that strengthens the rights of the working class and supported labor organizations that are the central institutions that effectuate fair wages and dignified working conditions / work environments.
Most recently, Mr. Wesson was endorsed by the Los Angeles and Orange County central trade Labor Union Council. Due to Mr. Wesson's long standing relationship with the labor organizations that represent the workers that improve the City, State and County Public infrastructure he is endorsed by the overwhelming plurality of Organized Labor Unions.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have a unique legislative mandate, in that, the L.A. County Board of Supervisor's has oversight of a budget of approximately 31 Billion Dollars of which half of the funding is designated for social services and public health. With that said, the Association of Professional Disabled Service Employees ("APDSE") is uniquely situated as labor organization that represents the workers that serve Persons with Disabilities (PWD's hereinafter) to develop a close working relationship with a legislator that has always championed the causes of the front line workers and labors with the first hand knowledge pertaining to Los Angeles County's social welfare challenges. Unlike both the City and State governments, the County of Los Angeles is directly responsible for developing programs that pertain specifically to the improvement of social welfare and public health.
Many elected officials have pledged to curtail the exponentially unacceptable rising populations of persons living without the dignity of housing, however each year the population of persons living without the dignity of housing rises in spite of the colossal sums of money designated for building affordable and accessible housing including proposition H and Proposition HH Funds.More funding is necessary, however funding is not the primary solution necessary to curtail the exponential rise of persons living without the dignity of housing, including but not limited to; far too many PWD's. Greater (1) legislative oversight of the County, City, & Non - Profit Community Based Organizations, (2) new visionary outside the box solutions / metric based proposals, and (3) accountability of the executive management that is charged with substantially reducing the exponential rise of persons living without the dignity of housing are the imperative missing ingredients necessary to begin to resolve this humanitarian public health crisis. The City of Los Angeles and the County of Los Angeles is world renowned for our infrastructure, public policy professionals, trade unions, academic institutions, and elected leadership. To this end, the City and County of Los Angeles possess the greatest talent right here in our County that is uniquely qualified to develop the solutions to begin to re mediated this humanitarian crisis to the extent that new fresh professional talent is harnessed to develop truly new visionary outside the box policies to address the exponential rise of persons living without the dignity of housing.
In summary, the APDSE asserts that Mr. Wesson has the leadership capacity to harness the sizable County budget with support from trade labor unions, community based non - profits, social service and health care professionals, and public workers to implement solutions that will cause a sizable reduction of persons living without the dignity of housing here in Los Angeles County. As the front line workers serving PWD's and persons living without the dignity of housing the Association of Professional Disabled Service Employees ("APDSE") shall forge greater working relationships with the trade labor unions and public sector labor unions that are indispensable with respect to devising new visionary outside the box solutions that are of the most pressing urgent concern with regard to the institutions of social welfare. Lastly, the APDSE asserts that Mr. Herb Wesson is just the type of new visionary outside the political orthodoxy box with both state and city legislative experience to revive the POLITICAL WILL to solve the urgent crisis with respect to the social welfare of all Angelinos through his passion and empathy. Please see the official announcement with respect to the APDSE's political endorsement with respect to Mr. Herb Wesson for the Second District Representative of & for the Los Angeles County of Board of Supervisors with specific itemized proposals at WWW.APDSELaborUnion.org under the tab entitled open letters.
